as well as Egypt\u2019s ties with the European Union, in light of Belgium\u2019s assumption of the EU\u2019s rotating presidency last January. The two sides confirmed that they look forward to forging closer joint cooperation in various domains and to further strengthening coordination and consultations on international and regional challenges.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n President El-Sisi and Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo also discussed regional developments, notably the situation in the Gaza Strip. President El-Sisi reviewed Egypt\u2019s efforts to achieve a ceasefire, exchange detainees, and ensure the flow of humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza in a sustainable and urgent manner.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n President El-Sisi appreciated Belgium\u2019s position in support of restoring calm and its rejection of the ongoing escalation. The Belgian Prime Minister affirmed his country\u2019s alignment with Egypt\u2019s vision and its readiness to support all efforts undertaken by Egypt within this framework, particularly with regard to ways to activate the two-state solution and establish an independent Palestinian state.
