أجرى السيد الرئيس عبد الفتاح السيسي اتصالاً هاتفياً بالرئيس الموريتاني “محمد ولد الغزواني”، لتقديم التهنئة بمناسبة تولي موريتانيا رئاسة الدورة الجديدة للاتحاد الأفريقي. 

وصرح الدكتور أحمد فهمي المتحدث الرسمي باسم رئاسة الجمهورية أن السيد الرئيس أكد دعم مصر لموريتانيا وثقة سيادته الكاملة في حسن وفاء أخيه الرئيس الموريتاني بمسئوليات رئاسة الاتحاد، مشيراً إلى استعداد مصر لتقديم ما لديها من خبرات في هذا الصدد للأشقاء في موريتانيا، بما يعزز العمل الأفريقي المشترك على مختلف المستويات.

ومن جانبه؛ ثمن الرئيس الموريتاني اللفتة الكريمة من السيد الرئيس، مشدداً على حرص بلاده على التنسيق والتشاور الدائم مع مصر في ضوء العلاقات المتميزة بين البلدين، وجرى في هذا الإطار تناول العلاقات الثنائية بين البلدين، حيث أكد الرئيسان مواصلة فتح آفاق جديدة للتعاون بما يتفق مع تطلعات ومصالح الشعبين الشقيقين.

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi spoke over the phone with President of the Republic of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould Ghazouani, to congratulate him on Mauritania‘s assumption of the new rotating presidency of the African Union for the year 2024.

Spokesman for the Presidency, Counselor Dr. Ahmed Fahmy, said President El-Sisi confirmed Egypt’s position in support of Mauritania and his full confidence in President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani’s ability to fulfill the responsibilities of the AU’s Chairmanship. The President emphasized Egypt’s readiness to provide its expertise in this regard to the brothers in Mauritania in order to bolster joint African action across various levels.

The Mauritanian President valued the kind gesture by President El-Sisi, reiterating his country’s keenness on holding constant consultations and coordination with Egypt, given the outstanding relations between the two countries. During their call, the two Presidents discussed bilateral relations and confirmed commitment to further exploring new prospects of cooperation in accordance with the aspirations and interests of the two peoples.
