Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid has granted a special pardon to Nozad Dawood Fattah Al-Jaff, the owner of North Bank, who faced allegations of involvement in the disappearance of 145 billion Iraqi dinars (around $800 million). Since the allegations emerged, the North Bank website has been inaccessible.

The Presidential Advisory and Expert Authority confirmed that no evidence linked Al-Jaff to the alleged crime. They clarified that the case qualified for pardon under Iraqi law, as outlined in their review of legal provisions.

According to a statement published on the president’s official website, the pardon request was referred to the legal department, which verified the absence of legal impediments to granting clemency.

The authority also cited Al-Jaff’s advanced age—over 65—and his ongoing battle with cancer as factors considered in the decision. Furthermore, the complainants in the case formally waived their rights to pursue any further legal or financial claims against him.
